Korea Economics Olympiad(KEO)

The Korea Economics Olympiad (KEO) is a competition organized by the Hankuk Academy of Foreign Studies (HAFS) to select the Korean representatives for the International Economics Olympiad (IEO). Participants who rank 1st to 5th in the KEO will compete against representatives from other countries in the IEO.

The 2022 KEO consisted of a written examination of basic economic knowledge and a presentation assessment, in which participants presented their thoughts on economic issues through media outlets. The written examination took place online on June 18th (Sat), and the presentation evaluation took place at Herald headquarters on July 9th (Sat). The five selected representatives were awarded prizes worth approximately 1 million KRW, as well as various awards from sponsoring organizations, including the Debate Korea Secretary-General Award.

After a 7-day training camp, they participated in the 2022 IEO held from July 26th to August 1st, 2022 with outstanding achievements. The 2022 IEO was hosted online by the SKT Education Group and Xian Jiaotong-Liverpool University. The competition consisted of three rounds: ‘Economics Test’, ‘Financial Game’, and ‘Business Case’. Four members of the Korean national team won the Economics Test's top award in addition to individual silver and bronze medals.

The 2023 KEO will be held from June 10rd to 11th, with three rounds of evaluation.
