Tournament Introduction
What is KB Solveathon?
Solveathon is a compound word derived from 'Solve' and 'Marathon,' originating from the MIT Solve project in the United States, where solvers from around the world present solutions to various social problems and engage in discussions to promote global development. Beyond simply presenting creative solutions, solvers build global communities to implement problem-solving in various ways, leading to concrete changes worldwide.
Debate Korea benchmarked this workshop-style problem-solving approach and introduced a newly developed format of Solveathon tournament for the first time in Korea. In the Solveathon tournament, each team starts by establishing ideas for a given problem and proposes specific solutions through an expert incubation process. Solutions that are verified and completed through discussion rounds with other teams and final presentations in a hearing format are delivered to companies or institutions, becoming ingenious innovations that change the world. We hope that the Solveathon competition, which seeks optimal solutions through continuous exchange and communication, will become a signal flare for solving various social problems domestically and internationally, and establish itself as a new form of academic sport.
Purpose of KB Solveathon
In the <KB Solveathon Tournament: Manage KB!> hosted by KB Financial Group and organized by Debate Korea, participants who become virtual CEOs work together to solve tasks to create a better world under KB Financial Group's mission of "Finance that Changes the World." It is conducted as an inter-university tournament where teams of four participants propose and develop solutions within a limited time. This competition, which involves three types of missions - Idea Battle, Debate, and Defense - allows young people to present new solutions to current issues and social responsibilities faced by corporations.
Participants who discover fresh and diverse ideas gradually develop them through various discussions and expert coaching in this Solveathon tournament, contributing to KB Financial Group's future strategies that deeply consider the social role of corporations and achieving substantive change. Notably, this year's Solveathon tournament includes a special team from Indonesia, laying the groundwork for future global Solveathon events. We expect this tournament, which offers practical problem-solving along with numerous participation benefits, to be a great opportunity for young people both domestically and internationally to change the world.
